Frequently Ask Questions

WHAT TYPES OF GROUPS TYPICALLY HOST THE “BE A COLLEGE ATHLETE” EVENTS?

These events are geared towards families of student-athletes, athletic directors, coaches, and anyone else potentially involved in the recruiting process! Any group of any size, from independent camps and combines, to club/travel team organizations, to high school athletic departments and booster clubs, all the way up to a combination of multiple schools to fill up a single auditorium, we are able to accommodate you and your group’s needs!

MY STUDENT-ATHLETE ISN’T ALL-STATE OR EVEN THE BEST AT THEIR SCHOOL OR IN THEIR LEAGUE, IS IT EVEN WORTH TRYING TO PLAY IN COLLEGE?

If you are a student-athlete that really wants to go play college athletics, there is a place for you to go play somewhere! There are scholarships available at many different levels and you are probably valuable to more schools than you are aware of, some that you may no even know are out there! Your job is to figure out who those schools are and let them know that you are alive! They can’t recruit someone that they have no clue exists!

I ALWAYS HEARD, IF YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH THEY WILL FIND YOU! ISN’T THAT TRUE?

Some of the best athletes in professional sports came from smaller, lesser known schools that you may not necessarily associate with that sport. Lots of talented athletes slip through the cracks because they sit back and wait for the schools to come to them! While some schools would love to recruit you, a school’s recruiting budget typically doesn’t allow for large amounts of time or money to be spent “discovering” talent! It is up to you to get your name out there and onto their radars!

WHY NOT JUST PAY SOMEONE TO DO THE WORK FOR ME?

This is a very personal decision and not one that we can make for you. Personally, the team at “Be A College Athlete” feels that if you want something done right, do it yourself…especially when it comes to potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships. A coach would much rather have a student-athlete put forth the effort and show that they care rather than be bombarded by impersonal form letters with no actual interaction or promise of interest in their university. “If it’s to be, it’s up to me!” -William H. Johnson
